Dora Karvouniari studied Physics at National University of Athens,Greece and was specialised in Nuclear and Particle Physics. Her thesis was on Nuclear Medicine, on Energy Dependence of the Efficiency of Compton Camera. During her studies, she was also a member of the SPECT lab at Physics Department, participating in a project on Gamma Camera planar imaging data analysis and tomographic reconstruction. She is interested in Mathematical and Computational Neuroscience as well as in Mathematical modelling of Biological systems.

Christos Papageorgakis has recently graduated from the Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics of the University of Central Greece, with a grade of 7.27/10. He acquired a comprehensive knowledge of distributed computations for my bachelor thesis, titled “Distributed algorithms for discovering faults problems in synchronous rings networks” which was graded of 10/10. He worked as a research member of INRIA, focusing on creating simulations for well known research graph games and looking to gain further knowledge from projects in the area of Computational Biology, such as signal and image analysis. He is presently a student of the MSc in Computational Biology and Biomedicine and he spends most of his spare time socializing, sailing, playing music and dancing.

Olga Permiakova is from Russia. She holds a Master degree in Applied Mathematics and Informatics . She graduated the Mechanics and Mathematics Department in Novosibirsk State University. Her specialization was Theoretical Cybernetics. During her research she studied mathematical programming, combinatorial optimization and metaheuristics approaches. She explored one of the discrete optimization problems is called competitive facility location problem. She considered various formulations and developed algorithms for this NP-hard problem.

I am Iranian and I completed the Bachelor degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Surrey, Guildford, England and the master degree in Physics and Engineering in Medicine from University College of London (UCL), London, England. My masters degree project was “MRI of Prion Disease” under the supervision of Professor Daniel Alexander, in which different candidate models were implemented to explain the signal variations in diffusion weighted MRI images from prion patients. I am interested in medical imaging and modelling and I would like to be a research scientist.
