Description

The EACA’s First International School on Computer Algebra and its Applications is an activity of the Spanish network Red EACA, Red Temática de Cálculo Simbólico, Álgebra Computacional y Aplicaciones, partially supported by the Ministry of Education, under the Acción Complementaria MTM2009-06305-E.
The School will take place from Monday, January 24 to Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Hotel H10 Costa Adeje Palace, Costa Adeje, Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.
This School intends to provide an opportunity for young researchers (namely, Master students, PhD students and Postdocs with less than 5 years since their PhD) in Computer Algebra and Symbolic Computation or in its Applications from all over the world, to learn from three internationally recognized lecturers, about recent developments on the following topics:
  • Algebraic phylogenetics, by Marta Casanellas (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain)
  • Polynomial equations in Singular and applications, by Wolfram Decker (TU Kaiserslautern, Germany)
  • The diophantine Frobenius problem: algorithms, applications and generalizations, by Jorge Ramírez Alfonsín (Université de Montpellier 2, France)

Each course will include, as detailed in the Program, both theoretical lectures and exercise/lab sessions. Participants are expected to bring their own laptop.

The School also welcomes experienced researchers interested in these topics.
