I'd like to echo Ilaria's remarks; things that aren't on the Internet
do exist, whether or not you look at them!  Even without the Internet
there's a real danger of re-inventing things every 25 years or so.
I hope that we don't re-invent Petri nets .... 

Incidentally, I heartily recommend Ilaria's survey.
