Segmentation of the Portal Vein

The Portal Vein Segmentation is performed in several steps. After an Anisotropic Diffusion on the image (see works of Karl Krissian) We obtain the portal vein in three steps: The first one realize a thresholding, the second one removes false negatives by a local analysis and the third one removes false positives by a topological and geometrical analysis. This last step thus allows the distinction beetween portal vein and the other vascular networks.

This segmentation gives a network of branches from which we know the diameter of each point. These topological and geometrical informations will be futher used to automativaly label the portal vein.
