Industry Experience

Prior to pursuing a PhD in Design, I worked in the private sector for 2.5 years. This experience combined elements of management and engineering.

2018-2019

Manager, Oravel Stays Pvt. Ltd. (OYO)

In OYO, which is a hospitality chain, I managed the Transformation vertical pan-India. This vertical was responsible for transforming leased homes into vacation homestays according to internal hospitality standards. In this role, I also got the opportunity to work on a policy project: to provide suggestions on a draft bill of a homestay policy by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.

2016-2018

Manager, Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL)

In HUL, which is a consumer goods company, I worked as a Management Trainee and then as a Manager in Supply Chain. In these roles, I undertook several large scale projects in core business functions in various parts of India and a short stint in Bulgaria. These included projects in manufacturing units (detergent, cosmetics), warehousing & distribution, supply & demand management, and sales. These projects were primarily related to manufacturing process optimization, packaging efficiency, energy optimization in manufacturing units, and optimization of distribution networks.

2014

Summer Intern, Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL)

During this two-month internship at HUL, I worked in a tea factory in Kolkata, India, where I undertook a project to optimize tea packaging efficiency. For this, I redesigned the tea input hopper feeding into the packaging machine using solid flow theory, improving packaging efficiency from 57% to 64%.
