GRAPES

learninG, pRocessing, And oPtimising shapES (GRAPES)
From 12/2019 until 11/2022
Website

GRAPES aims at considerably advancing the state of the art in Mathematics, Computer-Aided Design, and Machine Learning in order to promote game changing approaches for generating, optimising, and learning 3D shapes, along with a multisectoral training for young researchers.

Geometry + Simulation

First period 03.2012 to 03.2016, Second period until 03.2020.
National Research Network funded by the Austrian Scince Fund
Homepage, FWF highlights page

Devoted to the interaction of the two, mostly disjointly operated disciplines, applied geometry (in particular its descendant Computer Aided Design), which deals with questions of size and shape, and numerical simulation, which is concerned with discretization and approximation methods and their efficient implementation.

Role: software coordinator (first period), co-investigator (second period)

SAGA - ShApes Geometry and Algebra

From 11.2008 to 10.2012
Marie Curie Actions, FP7
Cordis page

SAGA aims at advancing the mathematical foundations of CAD technology. Based on some exploratory work, we believe that this technology can be greatly enhanced by exploiting results and techniques from many different fields in mathematics: Algebraic Geometry, Symbolic Computation, but also Numerical Analysis and Approximation Theory. The main goal of the proposal is to exploit the diverse knowledge of the partners (from universities, research institutes, and industry) for training a new generation of mathematicians.

Role: Early stage researcher (ESR)
