SENSITIVITY

• 78% or better

• but reports from referring hospitals only identified high signal in 33%

SPECIFICITY

• against all 57 non-vCJD controls: 95% or better

• against 14 initially suspected vCJD cases not later confirmed: only 1 case with minimal high pulvinar signal (71%)
