PULVINAR SIGN = posterior thalamus (pulvinar) shows high signal in comparison to caudate or putamen
seen on T2 and PD images, but even better on FLAIR scans if available
- pulvinar most affected
- most with pulvinar high signal also have dorsomedial high signal, leading to hockey stick appearance on axial scans
- peri-aqueductal high signal
- little atrophy despite fairly long time course
