summary of the wg meeting

The udlr wg group meeting was held on Tuesday Dec 8th.
The Link level tunneling mechanism document was presented
and specifically changes from last version (the ability
for nodes connected to the UDL to send encapsulated packets
to any IP destination address using another node of the UDL
as a next hop. This is enabled by the broadcast emulation
mechansim.

The LL tunneling mechanism was implemented fully by INRIA
and partially by Wide group. INRIA will put its implementation
in public domain soon. Several experiments and
demonstrations were described. Some vendors are interested in
supporting the udlr solution. The document has reach
a certain stability level and the WG proposed to submit
the document for last call as a proposed standard. There
was no objection on this from the audience. The document
will be sent on the mailing list for last call soon.

Future actions are
1) to focus on interoperability
tests and to (hopefully) get feedback from
interested people.
and
2) to write informational documents on experiments done using
the tunneling mechanism.
