INRIA INRIA's ambition is to be a world player, a research institute at the heart of the information society. INRIA aims to network skills and talents from the fields of information and computer science and technology from the entire French research system. This network allows scientific excellence to be used for technological progress, for creating employment and wealth and for new uses in response to socio-economic needs.
Ecole Polytechnique Founded in 1794 during the French Revolution, the École Polytechnique, under the supervision of the Ministry of Defence, is the most renowned of a distinc-tive class of French educational institutions called "les Grandes Écoles." It has trained France's scientific and industrial elite and the upper echelons of its civil and military services since its inception, and it continues to do so today. The name itself - Polytechnique - conveys the varied and multifaceted character of its curriculum, whereas the contributions of its graduates to the scientific and technical revolutions of the last two centuries attest at once to the excellence and the comprehensive nature of its program.
