Workshop on the modeling of TCP

December 7-8, 1998

Introduction

The role of the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is to ensure an end-to-end control of the data transmission over the Internet. Since most of today's Internet traffic is generated by data transfer applications (such as Web sessions) using TCP, it is a major challenge to understand its dynamics and evaluate its performance, in order to improve the efficiency of the utilization of the network resources. This workshop aims at presenting and discussing some of the most recent results on the mathematical modeling of TCP, as well as some connected issues on pricing and quality of service in the Internet.

See the program of the workshop.

The workshop is sponsored by École Normale Supérieure and INRIA.
