September 2014. I have been awarded the Inria - Académie des Sciences - Dassault Systems Innovation Prize.

September 2014. Principles of Distributed Database Systems - Third Edition has now been released in Chinese. Translation by Prof. Li-Zhu Zhou published by Tsinghua University Press.

December 2012. I have been inducted a fellow of the ACM.

I was a keynote speaker at the 22nd International Conference on Database and Expert Systems Applications (DEXA 2011), Toulouse, France, August 29 - September 2, 2011. I addressed the question: What Principles of Distributed Data Management in 2020?.

Just in time for the release of our book Principles of Distributed Database Systems, Tamer Özsu and I ran a panel on Distributed Data Management in 2020 at the 27th IEEE International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE), Hannover, Germany, April 11-16, 2011.

The Zenith INRIA team (Montpellier) was formally created in january 2011.

The Atlas INRIA project-team which I started in january 2004 in Nantes was formally ended in dec. 2010.

My conference on the Social Internet on 9 feb. 2010 at Univ. Montpellier 2 : online video (in french).

In september 2009, I moved from LINA, Nantes to LIRMM, Montpellier.

I was the general chair of VLDB 2009, Lyon, France, August 24-28 2009, which had a record number of 730 participants (44 nationalities).
