Mes activités :

Mes axes de recherche sont centrés sur la modélisation, l'analyse et la surveillance des systèmes vivants. Les trois principaux domaines d'applications sur lesquels je travaille concernent l'océanographie (et en particulier l'étude des systèmes planctoniques), le traitement de  l'eau par des procédés biologiques et la production de biocarburants, notamment en utilisant des microalgues.

La première étape de mon travail consiste à élaborer des méthodes pour déterminer un modèle à base d'équations différentielles ordinaires. Ce travail s'effectue en collaboration étroite avec des biologistes et des spécialistes des procédés biologiques impliqués.

Ensuite il faut valider le modèle et vérifier qu'il est suffisamment proche du système réel. Je développe pour cela des techniques pour analyser qualitativement le comportement  du modèle et vérifier qu'il correspond à celui du système réel.

Une fois qu'un modèle du système biologique est disponible, je construis des capteurs logiciels (ou observateurs) qui permettent -en utilisant certaines mesures en ligned'estimer l'ensemble des variables du système.  Sur la base de ces modèles, je développe également des algorithmes de contrôle pour optimiser le fonctionnement de bioréacteurs.

Toutes ces techniques mettent en œuvre les méthodes développées récemment en automatique non-linéaire et en analyse des systèmes dynamiques, et se conjuguent avec des protocoles expérimentaux pour valider et améliorer les algorithmes correspondants.
 
 

Mes spécialités :

La modélisation des systèmes biologiques, l'analyse de la structure des modèles biologiques, le lien entre structure et comportement qualitatif, l'analyse de données expérimentales, la validation des modèles biologiques, les observateurs non-linéaires, les observateurs par intervalles, le contrôle des bioréacteurs.

*    TELEMAC Telemonitoring and advanced telecontrol of high yield wastewater treatment plants (2001-2005). Projet Européen et Sud Américain (IST-2000-28156). 15 partenaires.

*     Shamash Production de biocarburants lipidiques par des microalgues (2006-2009). Projet ANR-PNRB, 8 partenaires.

Les organismes et écosystèmes que j'étudie :

Les bactéries (boues activées, digestion anaérobie, … ), le phytoplancton (fixation du CO2, production d’énergie, lagunage…) , les populations zooplanctoniques (étude de réseaux trophiques), les champignons filamenteux (agroalimentaire), etc.
