1   Scientific and Technical Program - Topics

The Congress will cover the general areas of theory and practice of machines and mechanisms. The topics cover those of the IFToMM Technical Committees, some of the Permanent Commissions, and others not covered by these, that are of relevance to MMS, Mechanism and Machine Science, namely,

Papers related to MMS, but outside of these fields, will be considered as well.

2  Proceedings

IFToMM Proceedings have become an important part of the fundamental literature on Mechanical Engineering, including History of Machines and Mechanisms. A CD-Rom and, on request, bounded proceedings, will contain the general lectures and papers to be presented, and will be available at the Congress site.

4  Paper submission and deadlines

4.1   Call for Papers

Full version of the paper should be submitted to the secretariat before September 22, 2006. Papers will be reviewed by the appropriate Technical Committee or Permanent Commission of IFToMM when submitted. A final decision on whether a paper is provisionally accepted for publication will be notified by December 15, 2006 together with the reviewers comments for modification. Final version should be made available by January 12, 2007 and will be checked according to the reviewers comments. Final decision of acceptance will be notified not later than February 16, 2007. Papers that are not ready at this date will not be accepted.

4.2   Instructions to Authors

The criteria described in the Instructions to Authors, available under the heading ' Paper Submission ' must be strictly followed when preparing and submitting the complete paper.

As decided by the Organizing Committee, electronic files of the complete paper in Postscript or PDF format (preferably) or Microsoft WORD format following the format of the downloadable templates should be sent as attachments of an e-mail message to the IFToMM 2007 World Congress Organizing Secretariat: secretariat@iftomm2007.com. A Latex template will also be available.

For PDF file please make sure that all the fonts used in your papers are EMBEDDED and SUBSETTED, especially for papers from Asia and Europe as reviewers may have difficulties to read your paper if this is not the case (see the Adobe tips site). LATEX users may convert their Postscript file into PDF by using this Postscript converter.

If you have any problem to create a correct pdf-file, please contact the Secretariat. For those authors who have no email system available, please copy the electronic files on disc(s) (3.5", 1.44M or readable laser disc) and send to the Secretariat by mail. One originally printed copy is also required.

Please do not send by fax your paper, it will not be accepted as receipt of your paper.

5   Registration Requirement

Publication of an accepted paper in the Proceedings is on the basis that at least one of the authors must register and present the paper at the Congress. In the case where more than two papers have the same name as either the principal author or the co-author, a publication fee of US $200 for each additional paper will be charged if only one of the authors will present at the Congress. Otherwise, the paper will not be published in the Proceedings.

Six-page length in total is allowed for each paper, and up to two additional pages will be permitted for a charge of US$60 for each additional page.

6  Registration fees

Registration fees have not been completely determined at this time but will follow approximatively this table:
Delegate 350 $
Accompanying person 300 $
Student 250 $

7  Best papers award

The Organizing Committee is proposing a Best Paper Award with 3 prizes (one of 800$ and two of 350$). A selection of papers will be provided by the Technical Committees and the Award Committee will select the three winners.

8  Young Delegates and Support Programs

The Young Delegates Program will be available to provide need based assistance to young scientists and engineers under 35 years of age to participate to IFToMM 2007. The funds assist with the registration fees, transportation and hotel costs. Please see the Congress website for the detail information. The Organizing Committee will accept applications for Young Delegates Program from April 17, 2006 to April 13, 2007. Please send your letter of request to the Organizing Secretariat by email and by post (two hard copies with signature). You will be considered as a candidate once your email is received. The Organizing Committee has made available very limited funding for supporting scientists and engineers that cannot apply for the Young Delegates program, please contact the Organizing Secretariat.
