Before even thinking about adding a new entry, you should make sure twice that it does not already exists:

• Search a reference.

Select the type of reference to add:

• ArticleAn article from a journal or magazine.
• BookA book with an explicit publisher.
• BookletA work that is printed and bound, but without a named publisher or sponsoring institution.
• In BookA part of a book, e.g., a chapter, section, or whatever and/or a range of pages.
• In CollectionA part of a book having its own title.
• In ProceedingsAn article in a conference proceedings.
• ConferenceA conference presentation (without proceedings).
• ManualTechnical documentation.
• Master's ThesisA master's thesis.
• Misc (avoid)Use this type when nothing else fits. A warning is be issued if all optional fields are empty (ie, the entire field is empty).
• PhD ThesisA PhD Thesis.
• ProceedingsConference proceedings.
• Technical ReportA report published by a school or other institution, usually numbered within a series.
• Unpublished (avoid)A document having an author and title, but not formally published.

• ImportImport an existing BibTex reference.
• StringAdd a new bibtex string.
