Implementation of Dynamically Adaptive Protocol Stack

Task: D.2
Task Leader: UTS
Participants: UTS 10 mm
From: T0+12 To: T0+24
Input from: D.1, A.1, A.2, C tasks
Output to: D.3, A.2
Deliverable: UTS-2 (Report): Description of the implementation results. Due at: T0+24
Milestones: Draft report at T0+18
Description:
The basic objective of this task will be to develop a prototype to validate the viability of dynamic adaptivity. The major portion of the work for this task will involve the development of a library of generic protocol functions, that would have been identified in the task entitled "Dynamically Configurable Protocol Architecture" in WP A. The optimized protocol suite for a given application, determined from a user specification developed in conjunction with the findings from the survey of applications carried out in WP A and/or in accordance with a recipe from the task entitled "recipe book" in WP D. The protocol will be synthesized at connection set-up (using a technique such as dynamic linking). Reconfiguration of the initial protocol will be triggered as a result of a change in application requirement (the connection of a third party as mentioned earlier or based on the findings of the survey of applications), network service ( such as higher delay and delay jitter) and under certain conditions end system resources (lack of memory due to the opening of another connection and using inputs from execution environment work of WP C).

This work will be done on DEC DS 5000's under the execution environment used in WP C.
