Hands-on Machine Learning, Winter School, 2019

This course provides a practical introduction to the methods and algorithms at the core of machine learning. The course mainly covers the first 7 chapters of Aurélien Géron's excellent book "Hands-On Machine Learning with Scikit-Learn & TensorFlow" with practical exercises using Scikit-Learn. The IPython notebooks provided below are essentially the code examples from the book available here.

The target audience is made by master students. The participation is guaranteed to the students of the Master 1 International in Computer Science. PhD students from the local PhD schools or from other institutions are welcome to attend. The participation is free of charge, but registration is required (how to register).

Lessons

Lessons will be at Inria, Kahn building, rooms K1-K2, or at Sophia Tech Campus, Templiers, room E-103.

Registration

The participation is guaranteed to the students of the Master 1 International in Computer Science. PhD students from the local PhD schools or from other institutions are welcome to attend, but they need to register by sending an email to the school organizer Giovanni Neglia. This winter school is recognized by the Ecole Doctorale STIC. Every participant should check the prerequisites and bring his/her own laptop with the required software installed.

Prerequisites

The practical sessions require some knowledge of Python. The MOOC Python 3 : des fondamentaux aux concepts avancées du langage from Arnaud Legout and Thierry Parmentelat is an excellent source to learn Python 3 (in French).

Every student should have a laptop with the following software installed: Python (3.x), jupyter, matplotlib, numpy, pandas, scipy, scikit-learn. We suggest to prepare a specific environment with all the software installed by using miniconda. Some slides about Python environment configuration and IPython.
