MR can be acquired using many different pulse sequences
Older sequences: PD and T2 weighted images show grey matter abnormalities with high sensitivity (ᢆ%) and specificity (ᢒ%) which approaches the best CSF tests
Newer sequences: FLAIR and diffusion weighted images are likely to prove significantly superior but only small numbers of cases reported so far
