cl.cam.ac.uk TEST transmissions
There is an initial attempt at a "media on demand" of our test transmissions,
based on the perl scripts from Vinay Kumar (vinay@eit.com)
after the idea by Anders Klemets (klemets@paul.rutgers.edu)
Some jotting relating to the JIPS MBone
JIPS MBone info
I'm continuing my struggle to bring the JIPS MBone into the WWW.
The bits I have so far are a JIPS
contacts list,
a fancy, inline
picture
of JIPS in which nodes can be selected just by clicking on them
(old WWW clients may have problems)
(and a picture of
Cambridge),
the status of
JIPS
(or an old
cache)
[or with
all tunnels
(cache)],
for EU
(c),
NZ
(c),
(all)
AU
(c)
(all)
and the whole mbone (large!).
You can see the routes to the US via
EU and
SURA (and
backup).
Mrouted Monitoring: mwatch (the watcher daemon) and related tools
A WWW interface to mwatch (an MBone monitoring server written as part of
the
MICE
project) is available, i.e.
mrinfo for individual hosts
(or the whole lot! -- this is big),
assymetric routes ,
mcollect to display the TTL to all mrouted's
and
mr to find a route between two multicast hosts.
There is the beginnings of a
README,
some almost up to date
man pages,
V3.6.2 src
and binaries for
SunOS 4.1.3,
SunOS 5.3,
ALPHA OSF/1,
SNAKE,
MIPS Ultrix,
Sun3,
Bobcats (no multicast).
Available maps
I'm building up a set of maps -- please tell me of any others of which you know.
As well as the
JIPS imagemap,
AU now has its own WWW page.
There are
PS,
GIF and
small GIF
images of the world
(small int or ext
or large int or ext)
EU
(nl)
(no)
(int or ext) and
NA
(int or ext).
Pointers to other useful info
These might be some useful pointers:
Syngen has declared that the official UK JIPS pilot MBONE now resides on
nosc.ja.net
(including the JIPS MBone TG in
PS
and
ASCII),
and that the
old directory
(along with the
PS map ,
Starter Pack ,
LNT JIPS MBone map
and
parent directory
) are now junk.
For irix 4 systems, see ftp.sgi.com:sgi/ipmcast for relevant patches (irix 5.1.x and later do not need patches).
Futher afield, there are the UCL MICE page,
( past MICE seminars),
and available MC software at
UCL
and
ed
as well as the
mbone-faq
(and the stanford one)
and taurus.cs.nps.navy.mil/pub/mbmg/mbone as
ps,
txt and
HTML.
See the
UAkron DECOSF1 (ALPHA) FTP archives.
lut.ac.uk has some useful goodies, such as
sad which allows you to announce sessions.
Bill fenner's sd-launch
To access MBone sessions from WWW without using sd, you need to get a copy of
sd-launch, and include in your .mailcap a line such as:
"application/x-sd; sd-launch %s"
and then you can use the links as seen from
cl.cam.ac.uk
or
nrl.navy.mil
coutesy of
Bill Fenner .
