The MECAGRID project, started fall 2002, aims to build a computational grid devoted to massively parallel computations in multi-material fluid mechanics. The nodes of the grid is composed of several PC clusters mainly localized in the PACA region and shared by the same community of users. Beside the physical construction of the grid, the project develops new techniques and algorithms allowing the application codes to run in an environnement made of heterogeneous ressources. At present, the project focuses on MPI applications running in the globus environnment. This project is sponsored by the french ministry of research through the ACI GRID program. It is a joint project between INRIA Sophia-Antipolis (coordinator), the IUSTI Laboratory and CEMEF .
