GRE Protocol Types

I have a couple of questions about Protocol Types in GRE
encapsulation.

When we are doing experiments of UDLR over ethernet we use

       Transparent Ethernet Bridging       6558

to encapsulate ethernet packets in GRE.

Do you think this choice is the right one?

The second question is, about DVB/Mpe, which is the protocol we are
using on our satellite link.

As stated in rfc1701, the GRE Protocol Type should be taken from DIX
ethernet encoding (iana/assignments/ethernet-numbers), but I could not
find a reference for DVB/Mpe.
Anyone knows of such a reference?

Who knows the process of asking for a new value in DIX ethernet
encoding?
Should that go from ETSI to IEEE?

Of course this 2 questions are out of the scope of the udlr working
group, but I think some of you could have a valuable opinion.

Thank's,
Patrick.
