During my six months internship, I'll prepare a detailed survey of existing NAT traversal techniques including analysis of pros/cons, with an emphasis on deployment and security issues. After this part, the implementation of a unified NAT traversal library will be the next task. This library will be tested with the LCC application and the performance will be studied with respect to each technique used.
In order to be able to evaluate and measure the performance of the implemented NAT traversal library, it is important to have a testbed that allows to simmulate real world situations.
To be able to simmulate as many NAT behaviors as possible, we use flexNES, a NAT emulation software. This software allows to implement most characteristics of a NAT that is currently described.
