Main Changes

• Included the changes concerning security functions from Ian Wakeman (UCL).
• Fixed a bug concerning the IP_MULTICAST_IF option. Now the -ni option also selects the right network interface for the sending socket. (thanks to Francis Dupont from INRIA).
• Fixed a bug in the DEC ALPHA AudioFile interface.
• On DEC and Linux platforms, the connect() call to the video source in multicast mode does not work. This call has been removed on these platforms.
• The DULL encryption procedure uses now 32-bit blocks instead of 128-bit blocks according to the Mark Handley's draft. ``The use of plain text keys for encryption of multimedia conferences'', draft V1.3, Mark Handley, UCL, London.
• GSM audio codec added. The coder has been written by Jutta Degener and Carsten Bormann, Technische Universitaet Berlin and modified for use in ivs by Andres Vega from INRIA.
• LPC audio codec added. The coder used has been written from Ron Zuckerman ( ronzu@isu.comm.mot.com) of Motorola and modified by Ron Frederick (frederic@parc.xerox.com) from Xerox PARC. (Note that the quality obtained is very poor).
• Added redundancy in the audio packets. The ``Audio Panel'' includes now options to choose the type of redundancy contained in each packet sent. The redundancy is obtained by adding at each packet information concerning the previous packet sent. This is currently done manually but this will be done automatically by the congestion control algorithm in a future version of ivs. The work has been done by Hugues Devries and Andres Vega from INRIA.

  The ivs archive contains the following compressed tar files (with gzip compression):

  • ivs3.6a-sun4OS5.tar.gz

  Sources files and Makefiles are included in the ivs3.6a-src.tar.gz tar file. The different platforms are:

  • decalpha (for DEC ALPHA platform)
  • iris5.3 (for SGI - Iris 5.3 GALILEO/INDIGO/VINO VIDEO platforms)
  • sun4OS4 (for SunOS4.x - PARALLAX/VIDEOPIX/VIGRAPIX platforms)
  • sun4OS5 (for SunOS5.x - PARALLAX/SUNVIDEO/VIDEOPIX/VIGRAPIX platforms)
  Each compressed tar file contains the following files:
  • README and manual pages for each tool.
  • ivs, ivsd, ivs_record, ivs_replay, ivs_gw, ivs_stat (binaries executable)
