Recognition of scenarios describing human activities

Authors: François Brémond and Monique Thonnat

Abstract:

This paper describes a system for image sequence understanding. More precisely we address the issue of scenario recognition for scene interpretation systems. We start by presenting main issues in describing human activities and by presenting works related to these problems. Then based on a model, we represent a scenario describing human activities as a combination of sub-scenarios and properties on the mobile objects involved in the scenario. Depending on the type of combination (temporal or non temporal) we use an abductive diagnosis or an automaton as methods to recognize scenarios. Finally we propose a mechanism to help with the automatic generation of scenario recognition methods based on scenario descriptions.
