Introduction to Knowledge Based (re)Use of Program Libraries

KBUP consists of the automation of the management of program libraries containing a large number of programs. To perform a certain task, a subset of these programs is chosen, ordered and applied. Many different libraries of programs have been developed in many different domains. The programs are written by specialists. It is usually very hard for non-specialists to apply them. Artificial intelligence techniques can be used to guide a non-specialist with the application of the programs in different working environments. In certain domains the application must even be entirely automated, like for autonomous vision systems.
