Résumé:

Information theory for service guarantee analysis in stochastic networks has been identified as a grand challenge for networking research. Stochastic network calculus is an important step towards it. The presentation is devoted to the introduction of background and basic properties required for a network calculus. In addition, recent results of stochastic network calculus are presented, together with its application to several network scenarios. Moreover, open challenges and topics for future research on stochastic network calculus will be highlighted, which include advanced properties, application to cross-layer design, analysis and optimization in wireless networks, and network capacity with bursty traffic and delay constraints.
