ANNOTE = { We present a novel technique for
effectively calibrating a binocular stereo
rig using the information from both scenes
and classical calibration objects. The
calibration provided by the classical
methods is only valid for the space near
the position of the calibration object.
Our technique tries to make the best use
of the rigidity of the geometry between
two cameras. The idea is to first estimate
precisely the epipolar geometry which is
valid for a wide range in space from all
available matches, extracted from both the
environment and the calibration objects.
This allows us to conduct an accurate
projective reconstruction. Using the
\emph{a priori} knowledge of the
calibration object, we are finally able to
calibrate the stereo rig in a Euclidean
space. The proposed technique has been
tested with a number of real images, and
significant improvement has been observed.

ANNOTE = {Motion analysis in computer vision is a
well-studied problem with numerous
applications. In particular, the tasks of
optical flow estimation and tracking are
of increasing interest. In this paper, we
propose a level set approach to address
both aspects of motion analysis. Our
approach relies on the propagation of
smooth interfaces to perform tracking
while using an incremental estimation of
the motion models. Implicit
representations are used to represent
moving objects, and capture their motion
parameters. Information from different
sources like a boundary attraction term, a
background subtraction component and a
visual consistency constraint are
considered. The Euler–Lagrange equations
within a gradient descent method lead to a
flow that deforms a set of initial curve
towards the object boundaries as well an
incremental robust estimator of their
apparent motion. Partial extension of the
proposed framework to address dense motion
estimation and the case of moving observer
is also presented. Promising results
demonstrate the performance of the

nouvelle approche pour la segmentation
active d'images texturées. Tout d'abord,
nous présentons une méthode d'extraction
des caractéristiques textures de l'image,
basée sur une version non-linéaire du
tenseur de structure. Ensuite, un cadre
variationnel est défini pour incorporer
les différentes caractérisitiques textures
et l'intensité de l'image dans un
processus de segmentation adaptatif et non
supervisé. Contrairement aux approches
utilisant un jeu de filtres de Gabor pour
extraire l'information texture, notre
approche fournit naturellement un nombre
réduit de composantes. Ainsi, nous évitons
l'étape d'apprentissage souvent nécessaire
pour obtenir une information texture
pertinente. Basé sur ces nouvelles
composantes, nous proposons un processus
de segmentation actif et adaptatif o{\`u}
les densités de probabilité {\`a}
l'intérieur et {\`a} l'extérieur du
contour sont estimées de mani{\`e}re
dynamique. Nous présentons des résultats
convaincants sur diverses images
synthétiques et réelles.}

applications one has to deal with noisy
images defined on surfaces, like electric
impulsions or diffusion tensors on the
cortex. We propose a new regularization
technique for data defined on triangulated
surfaces: the Beltrami flow over intrinsic
manifolds. This technique overcomes the
over - smoothing of the L2 and the
stair-casing effects of the L1 flow for
strongly noised images. To do so, we
locally estimate the differential
operators and then perform temporal finite
differences. We present the implementation
for scalar images defined in 2 dimensional
manifolds and experimental results.}

and useful features in computer vision.
This paper deals with the development of
an efficient model based approach in order
to detect and characterize precisely these
important features. The key of our
approach is first to propose some
efficient models associated to each of
these features and second to efficiently
extract and characterize these features
directly from the image. The models
associated to each feature include a large
number of intrinsic parameters (Grey level
intensities, location, orientation of the
line segments\ldots) but also an important
parameter which is associated to the
blurring effect due to the acquisition
system. The important problem of the
initialization phase in the minimization
process is also considered and an original
and efficient solution is proposed. In
order to test and compare the reliability,
the robustness and the efficiency of the
different proposed approaches, a large
number of experiments involving noisy
synthetic data and real images have been
carried out. Finally, a comparative study
of this approach and the classic corner
operators is presented.}
