Abstract
The main goal of the {\scow} is to provide a block level versioning device on top of device-mapper volumes. The expected characteristics of {\scow} are: 1) to work with any file system; 2) retention of multiple versions; 3) deletion of intermediary versions; 4) keep current and versioned data on the same disk; 5) easy identification of modified blocks; 6) operate on a mounted file system; 7) use of standard user level tools.
