Internship: CFDP and BitTorrent for satellite missions CFDP is the File Delivery Protocol proposed for space communications by the Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems. The European Space Agency has appointed Thales Alenia Space and INRIA Maestro team to study the possibility to integrate CFDP in a BitTorrent-like architecture for data distribution among ground stations. In this framework, the goal of the internship is to evaluate, mainly by simulations on ns-3, the performance of BitTorrent-enhanced ground stations, that cooperatively share data chunks received from Low Earth Orbit satellites. The student should - modify ns-3 and in particular the BitTorrent module in order to support the proposed operation - carry on a simulation campaign to evaluate the performance of the proposed architecture - install the modified simulator and show its operation at the European Space Operations Centre in Darmstadt, Germany. Duration of the internship: 6 months starting from September 2013 Scholarship: about 1100 euros per month Contact person: Giovanni Neglia, giovanni.neglia@inria.fr
