Current Affiliation:

Easwar Subramanian is a postdoc in the NeuroCompMath Project Team (formerly Odyssée ) working on developing mathematical tools for the estimation of synaptic conductances. He is supervised by Prof. Olivier Faugeras . Before arriving in INRIA Sophia-Antipolis in November 2008, he was working from École normale supérieure, Paris, on the same project starting January 2008.

Research:

He obtained his PhD from University of Groningen, The Netherlands. His thesis supervisors were Prof. Henk Broer and Prof. Nicolai Petkov. Primarily the thesis was focused on two objectives. One objective was to study the dynamics of neuronal networks using coupled oscillators. Specifically, the focus was on understanding the mechanism of unstable attractors and the occurence of heteroclinic cycles. The other objective was to examine the benefits of spatiotemporal filters and surround suppression in processing image sequences. On 29th February 2008 he gave his doctoral defense. Some snaps from the defense ceremony are available here.

In general he is interested in understanding the general mathematical principles associated with neuroscience. Next to this, he is also interested in visual perception and biological models for vision.
