We took the opportunity of the meeting to organize two talks by committee members, Bjarne Stroustrup and Lawrence Crowl, on new features of C++0x. More information like the videos and slides is now available.
The collocated INCITS J16 and ISO/SC22/WG21 meetings will be held in Sophia Antipolis, France, June 8-14, 2008. The meeting will be located at INRIA Sophia Antipolis.
Wireless connection will be available at INRIA. Lunches will be taken at the cafeteria of INRIA.
The nearest international airport is Nice (NCE).
From the airport to Sophia, we recommend that you take a taxi, which takes about 20 minutes, for about 50€. Bus transportation is very limited during week-ends, but there is a convenient line if you plan to arrive or leave during the week. Using public transportation is doable during week-ends, but we warn you that it is challenging (some instructions have been provided by Jens Maurer, please refer to the WG21 private wiki page).
Rental car: a list of car rental companies is available on the airport web site here.
Here is a list of recommended hotels at walking distance from INRIA (half a mile) together with nightly rates. These rates have been negociated for a limited number of rooms blocked, and time period, so they might increase if you make your reservation later:
Other hotels can also be found in more touristic places like Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, etc., but the transportation is more difficult (count 30 minutes by bus).
Reservation can be made by sending an email to Carole.Sebbah@amadeus.com, mentionning the information listed below. Alternatively you can send the information by Fax at +33 4.97.15.49.99, which is more secure than email (Phone number: +33 4.92.94.32.71).
June is very busy on the French Riviera and even in a Science Park like Sophia Antipolis, the hotels are full during this period. Thus we cannot insist enough on the necessity to reserve your room as early as possible.
Here is a map as well as a GoogleEarth KMZ file showing the hotels and INRIA locations.
Here is also a Google Map that locates the hotels and INRIA (it's a 10-15 minutes walk). Note that Hotel Grand Mercure has a 6 seats shuttle that can drive you to INRIA. If you come to INRIA by car, please park in front of INRIA. To locate INRIA, look for a big sign "Algorithms", then INRIA is 20 meters on its left, slightly hidden.
There will be a welcoming diner/buffet at INRIA on Monday featuring typically local food.
Moreover, on Thursday evening, we will organize a visit of Gourdon, an old village in the country side, with a nice view on the area. We will have a guided tour of the castle and the museum. Then we will have diner at a restaurant nearby.
