It is possible to save a formalism in a persistent format known as the tables. Although a formalism may be created, saved, and restored by hand, we usually generate the formalism through an abstract syntax specification. Resources indicate where to store the tables when generated. These same resources allow Centaur to load the formalism the first time you try to construct an abstract syntax tree for the given formalism.
