i will look into your setup (i.e., sun4 + tcsh), because, as my message implies, 
control-c *does* interrupt in the code above.  However, i am on a decstation with ksh.  
i'll snoop about and get back when i've more info.

As far as the mailing list, it seems that we've one incorrect address on the list
and two other machines that aren't currently responding but you're messages are getting
