Résumé     I will talk about some of our most primitive images of random phenomina--flipping a coin, shuffling cards, rolling a roulette ball. In each, while randomness is sometimes possible, in reality the initial conditions take a lot of effort to wash out. There is money to be made in casinos and real danger in incorrect conclusions in scientific computations using random numbers. This is a talk aimed at a general scientific audience with many, many real examples.         Video
