What si LREfactor ?

LREfactor is a Maple Package to decompose, factorize and solve linear difference equations and systems. Current version provides the following functionalities :

Decomposition of a linear difference operator into indecomposable factors
Decomposition of a linear difference system into indecomposable factors
Full factorization of an order two linear difference operator
Computation of a basis of the space of liouvillian solutions of an order two linear difference operator.

LREfactor make calls to the Aldor library Sum^it via the interactive server Shasta . So you first need to install Sum^it and Shasta before being able to use LREfactor, if not already done.

How do I install LREfactor?

Download the file LREfactor.tar.zip . Then uncompress it using unzip and tar and read the file explanation.txt.

Note the the package is still in developpement and may contain bugs. Please send any remark to the author.
