You can download SHASTA by anonymous ftp from the CAFÉ server at
ftp-sop.inria.fr in cafe/software/shasta,
or from the URL:
http://www.inria.fr/cafe/Manuel.Bronstein/sumit/shasta.html.
You must get both the platform-independent shasta.tar.gz file
and the executable(s) corresponding to the desired operating system and
processor type.
After downloading the above files, issue
tar -xvzf shasta.tar.gz,
which will create the following subdirectories:
- shasta/share/doc: this user guide,
- shasta/share/maple: the SHASTA-MAPLE interface,
- shasta/share/samples: some sample SHASTA input files.
You can then unzip and move the executable(s) anywhere. Note that
if you intend to use SHASTA from within MAPLE, then you will need
to add the location of the SHASTA executable to your path,
and the shasta/share/maple directory to the MAPLE library path,
for example with the statement
libname := `.../shasta/share/maple`, libname:` in your
.mapleinit file. Alternatively,
you may move or copy the executable and shasta/share/maple/shasta.m files
to places on your path and MAPLE library path respectively.
Although SHASTA is free, we appreciate if you send an e-mail to
sumit@sophia.inria.fr notifying us that you downloaded and
installed it. Also report any bugs or problems to that address.
