INTRODUCTION

We proposed a new texture parameter which characterizes urban areas. This parameter is derived from Descombes' work. We analyze the urban texture with a series of 1D Markovian gaussian models. So that we take into account the orientation of the objects and avoid misclassification of objects like greenhouses, vineyards which have a privileged orientation.
