SCHICKARD'S MACHINE- Germany - 1623

A model built on the basis of sketches and explanations contained in two letters that Schickard wrote Kepler in 1623 and 1624 .
Called the "Calculating Clock" by its inventor, it would have been comprised of one level of six napierian cylinders for multiplication and arithmetic adder of six wheels, each with a single tooth mechanism for the numbers to be carried over.(Collection IBM Europe)
