Current Activities and Interests

I am from Vietnam. Currently, I am a PhD candidate in Informatics and Computer Science at the ACACIA Research Team, The French National Institute for Computer Science and Control (INRIA), Center of Sophia Antipolis. My advisors are Dr. Rose Dieng (INRIA) and Dr.Alain Boucher (IFI).

My interests cover Knowledge Management, Semantic Web, ontologies with a current focus on ontology and semantic annotation evolution in a Corporate Semantic Web.

Research & Work

Thesis subject and context: “Evolution management for a Corporate Semantic Web”

Today’s business dynamics and changes in the operating environment often give rise to continuous changes in application requirements, especially in web-based applications. The web changes at an incredible pace, much faster than an user or even an intelligent web agent can keep up with. Due to the ever increasing complexity, heterogeneity and physical distribution of information resources, applications require efficient mechanisms to cope with changes in the environment. In the next generation Semantic Web aiming at a better cooperation among humans and machines, an organisational memory can be materialised as a Corporate Semantic Web (CSW), which composed of heterogeneous, evolving resources distributed over an intranet and indexed using semantic annotations expressed with the vocabulary provided by a shared ontology. We have been studying the life cycle of such a CSW and the problems related to its evolution containing the evolution of each component  as well as the evolution of relations among these components.

This research will study profoundly the problem of redundancy and consistency regarding ontology modification, the influence on the set of dependent components of an ontology (semantic annotations on these resources, annotated resources with ontology and other dependent ontologies), the problem of version management of some ontologies, semantic annotations and the problem related to the cooperative and distributed evolution of ontologies and semantic annotations through multiple human agents and various software.
